Ava DuVernay was born on August 24, 1972, at Long Beach California. DuVernay received support from her Aunt Denise at the age of an infant. DuVernay worked as night nurses to afford her aunt the space she required during the day for the love of literature, art, and theater. DuVernay quickly fell in love after showing her that 1961 West Side Story film. DuVernay saw how art was an effective way to spread social activism. In the year 1990 she graduated from Saint Joseph High school in Lakewood California. DuVernay was a student at the college at the time she began to become interested in production for television journalism. Her first job was as an intern with CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembered being told to take a look at the junk from a home belonging to a jury member. As a result of her duties she was dissatisfied with journalistic work and entered the publicity business. DuVernay was immediately hired after graduating from college as an assistant publicist in the studio that was small. The DuVernay Agency is her first agency for public relations. Alongside PR, her agency launched a number of marketing and lifestyle platforms, such as Urban Beauty Collective, the Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful.
